What is your name and surname?
How old are you?
Always 21 😜 (32)
Where did you grow up?
In the wild Wild West of Johannesburg 4. I love people and always loved working with people. I completed my schooling to matric and studies for my higher diploma as a medical aesthetician. Where after I lectured to 1st year health and skincare students.
I then worked in corporate sales and training for an IT solutions company for 4years and truly hated the traveling and the desk work. Missing the physical interaction with people.
How did you end up where you are – studies, experience, life?
After going through a very traumatic and stressful pregnancy I left behind the pressures and stresses of the corporate world and took the time off to study movement. A whole year and many many hours of practice I qualified as a comprehensive instructor.
Andriesa took me under her wing and mentored me and still does so. I’ve become part of the Pilates dynamic furniture ever since then.
Going on almost 5years.
Why did you start with Pilates?
I started Pilates because I’ve always love movement and the aesthetic body. Always looking at lines and symmetry in people. I think it’s the artist in me. But mostly it’s my passion for people that drew me to it.
How are you involved with Pilates Dynamics?
I’m a senior trainer at Pilates dynamics and teacher trainer lecturer.
What is the best part of this job?
So other than working with my amazing clients I get to share the knowledge gained over years of practice and through from my mentor.
The best part of my job is going to work every day. Not once have I ever regretted the choice I made to become an instructor. I looooooove it. I love seeing the difference I get to make in someone’s day. I love seeing them leave the studio looking 10 inches taller and feeling lighter.
What is the best thing about Pilates?
That everyone can do it. That you get to express yourself through movement. That it becomes you.
What is your five favourite things in the world and why?
I have too many. Where to begin. My family (husband and boys) my favorite place on earth would have to be wherever my people are. I do love to travel and I’ve seen many places each one special to me in its own way. I love food any food, good food. But I’m a real girly girl and other than my workout clothes I love pretty things.
What strange habit do you have – or something that you do and other people usually don’t do?
Mmm... haha this is a tough one. I’m quirky and fun. I’m actually very introverted but not in my job. When I’m stressed I smell my fingers and hand. Now that was embarrassing to say out loud. Clean hands of course.
What is the most valuable lesson you have ever learnt?
To always treat all people with love and respect. And that you teach people how you want to be treated. Just be kind.
