Classes are offered in a group environment of only 5 people per class or in a private (1-on-1) or semi-private (2 to 4 people) environment.  The Pilates large equipment is made up of: Reformers, Wunda Chairs, Cadillac, Towers, and Ladder Barrels and Spine Corrector Barrels.  These pilates machines have foot and hand ropes and they use spring tension which can be set to either challenge or support the body – depending on the exercise or the goals & outcomes that need to be achieved.  There are thousands of exercises that can be done on these machines and the options are limitless.

Class emphasis is on rhythmic, flowing sets of movements which increase strength, flexibility and stamina while also improving alignment, balance co-ordination and tone.  The result of the workout is a uniformly developed body with strong back and abdominal muscles.   There are countless different movements and exercises which can be adjusted for the stronger and the weaker person.  Exercises are performed seated, standing, on all fours, or lying on your back, side or front.

Some of the pieces of the large equipment also offer a cardio element, for example with the Reformer a Jump Board is used, which is a fun and entertaining way to incorporate cardiovascular exercise into your routine.  The Jump Board is also an excellent non-weight bearing method to increase your heart rate and burn some serious calories while engaging your core.

The Pilates Large Equipment is designed for athletic conditioning as well as for injury rehabilitation.  Personalised programs are developed for specific needs and programs are adjusted as progress is made so that clients are constantly being challenged.  Every piece of large pilates machine offers a different way in which to develop and work the body in different planes to increase muscle co-ordination, strength, and flexibility.

Pilates exercise and machines are “joint-friendly” which makes it an excellent choice for everyone – young or old.
